Welcome to Hell On Heels, the all-girl, anal extravaganza inspired by Jenna Jameson and Nikki Tyler’s “Hell on Heels” dance shows. If I had to describe Hell On Heels in a sentence, it’s the cross between a feature act at a strip club and a much harder take on the genre that Andrew Blake pioneered.

What's Hell On Heels About?: This seven-scene, high budget, all-sex lesbian feature by Brad Armstrong, marks Jenna’s comeback after more than a year away from the camera, and she appears in all of the scenes. Although each of the scenes are unrelated and plotless, they are all fetish based with heavy emphasis on leather, light bondage, and costumes. And again, no men are in sight, just lots and lots of dildos, vibes, and toys.

Hell On Heels Scene 1: “Riding Bareback” - Jenna Jameson, Sterling, Emily Jewel - Featuring Jenna in a bare-breasted riding outfit complete with PVC gloves and a riding helmet, the scene quickly cuts between black and white and color footage as she uses a variety of dildos to penetrate her blonde pony girls. Hell On Heels Scene 6: “Tie Me Up Geisha Girl” – Jenna, Asia Carrera - In my pick for the best scene of the movie, Jenna is bound with red rope in Japanese shibari style, with Asia dominating her in a PVC kimono. Of course, since all of this is completely consensual, the ropes are loosened, but the envelope-pushing continues with a rather nasty looking toy that looks a lot like an instrument of torture in the form of a silver sai, a three-spiked traditional stabbing weapon (except the tips on this one are rounded). Not only does Asia penetrate Jenna with it, but she also tugs on Jenna’s clit ring with the end – ouch!

Hell On Heels Scene 7: “New Age Goddess” – Jenna, Shayla LaVeaux – Dressed in futuristic armor and helmets that leave exposed more than they protect, Jenna and Shayla begin this scene with a ho-hum one-song dance number before breaking out the toys of the future, including a wicked-looking enema toy attached to a stainless steel hose (sorry, no waterplay here for those who are into that). The high point of the scene is seeing Shayla take a foot-long bubble bead toy in her ass – and then seeing Jenna pull them out.

What I liked About Hell On Heels: Performer identification: Thanks, Brad Armstrong, for leading each of the scene with a graphic that both visually and textually identifies the girls in that scene. It's a classy intro and useful as well, even though most of the women are instantly recognizable. I appreciate the helpful touches like that.

Artsy and hardcore: Unlike Andrew Blake, who tends to film beautiful, elegant scenes that unfortunately lack explicitness, Hell on Heels is unquestionably X-rated. We get to see everything in crystal clear detail, and as Brad explains in his audio commentary, they pushed the boundaries in terms of what is shown. It's not anything close to some European hardcore lesbian action that I've seen, but it manages to please both the artists and raincoaters in the audience at the same time.

What I didn't like about Hell On Heels: Male lesbianism: This is totally a guy's fantasy of what chicks doing other chicks should be. For me, I prefer "real" girl-girl where you can tell they are into it rather than the fake porno take on lesbian sex. So if you're into seeing a bunch of fake tited girls go at it like they are doing guys, then you'll probably just love this movie. I'm not saying that the movie doesn't do anything for me (hey, I've got enough male pig gene in me to appreciate testosterone shoot 'em ups, Austin Powers films, and high-heeled, fake girl-girl porn!). My point is that only a guy could have come up with some of the kink in this movie, especially the obsession with phallic toys and anal.

Hell On Heels DVD Extras: The Hell On Heels DVD comes with the usual assortment of special features from Wicked. And by usual I mean a well-above-industry-standards extras package. In addition to the narrated audio biographies, trailers, Wicked Casino DVD-ROM game, and photo gallery, there are three main extras: a 24-minute behind the scenes documentary, a feature-length audio commentary by Director Brad Armstrong, and a 5-minute video interview with Jenna.

The Hell On Heels documentary, shot by Wicked's excellent videographer and editor Red Ezra, has a good combination of outtakes, interviews, and candid moments to go along with the general record of the filming process. It has some funny moments, as well as some revealing ones -- especially those where we see these stars in street clothes or when they're tired and cranky after a full day of shooting. It's not the best BtS video that Wicked's done, but it's a nice addition to the disc.

Brad's commentary is not the strongest one that he's done, partially due to his gushing analysis of how hot the scenes are. I really dislike commentaries where the director or stars self-congratulate themselves on doing such a wonderful job. It's even more irritating when I don't agree with them. Since I'm not into the type of girl-girl that apparently a lot of guys like, I just bristle when Brad has nothing but superlatives to say about the action. However, despite that, he has a lot of interesting production details to share, especially when it comes to locations, costumes, props, and so forth. I like his commentaries in general because he doesn't try to talk through the sex scene or give play-by-play.

There aren't too many people who are neutral about Jenna Jameson -- either you love her or you hate her. I think a lot of the people who hate her will feel justified after watching the short video interview. Topless and getting ready for a scene, she rants and whines about her departure from the industry and the people who tried to bring her down. She just comes across as a prima donna to me from this interview.

Hell On Heels A/V Quality: Whether you chalk it up to a creative decision or blame it on Wicked’s reputation of having grainy-looking video, there’s a very noticeable amount of grain. I’m not impressed with the overall undersaturation of colors and excessively bright and washed out images. In some scenes, I wanted to wear sunglasses to shade me from the blinding light. Overall, the video, while not bad, is really distracting as you find yourself thinking about the picture and photography decisions rather than on the action.

The audio is done a little bit differently than the typical vignette style. There’s a good use of classical, electronic, and new age music in the soundtrack, but it’s mixed with the production sound at almost equal volume. That’s good and bad; good because you can hear the action, but bad because it’s weird to hear the talent talking dirty to each other over classical music (maybe that appeals to you, but it was just weird to me). Other than that, I have no other complaints about the audio. I’d actually recommend watching the feature the first time with the commentary track turned on, since you can hear everything plus you get to hear Brad Armstrong’s commentary.

The Last Word On Hell On Heels DVD: Hell On Heels has Wicked’s trademark of quality all over it, but I just can’t get excited about Barbie-esque porn stars doing the hardcore equivalent of a strip club’s girl-girl shows. I’m probably a minority here on that though, given the high marks that other reviews have given Hell On Heels. If you’re a fan of one of the stars, or prefer your all-girl action over the top, then go out and buy this Hell On Heels DVD, by all means.
